Michelle Obama visited Elizabeth Garrett Anderson School today and was welcomed by Advisory Board member Jo Dibb. The First Lady addressed the students in what was her first public engagement overseas and she stressed the importance of education to life chances and encouraged the girls to work hard to fulfil their dreams and ambitions and thereby make a difference to their own lives and that of the communities in which they live. The school was chosen because many of the girls attending it come from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Jo Dibb said" Mrs Obama has done so much for our young women. She has raised their self esteem and made them even more determined to make the most of their education and to aim to the the best in whatever they do".
